My Huddy!

Oh Huddy, Oh Huddy! This little stinker can at times make me want to pull my hair out and other times I stop and think that if I could freeze time I would. He is a very stubborn little 3 year old. He wants to try everything himself with no help. He'll trying things over and over AND OVER again then throw a fit out of frustration because he could not get it right. I'll tell him, "Hudson, if you would just stop and ask for help, I would have gladly helped you." His response is usually, "BUT I wanted to do it, not you." He is one that if you tell him 'no' then he want's to know why that is a 'no no'. He has been that way since he was a baby. You say something is hot and that he should not touch it, ok, well I am going to touch it and see if it is hot then I won't touch it ever again. (what are his teenage years going to be like??) He is one you have to SHOW why he should not do it. He won't take your word for it. He is the type of little boy that you can almost see the wheels turning as he is trying to figure out something. He is such a 'question asking' little guy. I love our car rides lately because he will just ask the funniest questions. He really is just taking in the world around him at all times. He still loves playing with his action figures. Lately we are stuck on super hero's. He loves batman, superman, and spiderman. I love watching him play and 'talk' for the characters. It's just so sweet and so innocent. Even though he can be a handful, I love the little boy he is becoming. He is at such a fun, yet at times challenging age.

I am having a 'genius mommy' moment lately, and here's why! Hud has never been a veggie eater....NEVER. As a baby he would gag and spit out EVERY veggie baby food. When he got a little bigger I would try EVERYTHING under the sun to get him to eat something green. Different dips, hiding the veggie in different foods, pure' it and put it in mixtures........EVERY way/recommendation out there I have tried. He is a smart cookie and can tell that something is different and then not eat it. We have had SO many battles over eating veggies. It drives me nuts.

Well, we have been at Lowe's a lot lately (we are TOTALLY re-doing our kitchen... that's later and very exciting story). There is a witch there that stirs a pot and 'comes alive' when you walk by her. She talks and her eyes light up. Pretty scary to be totally honest. Well, Hud became obsessed with this witch. "who is that witch, where is she going, what is in her pot, why is she green, is she mean or nice, does she have a mommy...?" Just to name a few of the millions of questions that came after we saw her for the first time. He actually was pretty scared of her whiched surprised me because he really isn't scared of too much. SOOO on the drive home he asked again, "why is that witch green." Well, being the GENIUS mother that I am (ha!), I responded, "the witch is green because she did not eat her vegetables when she was a little girl. She is also green because she was not nice to her little sister." LADIES AND GENTLEMAN HUDSON PAUL MULLINS HAS EATEN VEGETABLES AT LUNCH AND DINNER SINCE WE HAD THAT CONVERSATION LAST FRIDAY. And WHY you ask??? All because that sweet little 3 year old boy does not want to turn green! He will do whatever it takes, even eat his veggies, so he won't turn green. I find it hysterical. Even when he is being ugly to Harper he'll stop and tell me, "Mommy, I don't want to turn green so I am going to be a nice boy."

So call me dishonest, but hey, it worked. Not sure how long this little turning green thing will work, but for now I have a son who is eating well-balanced meals all because of the witch at Lowe's. What a funny story we will have to share with him when he get's older!

  1. That has got to be one of the cutest stories I've ever heard. Who would have thought a green witch would do the trick?!

  3. So cute and so funny. Hey, if it works, it works! Also, I think that stubborness was definitely inherited from his Daddy. Sorry about that! Matt did turn out okay, so hang in there. It can be a good quality if it is channeled in the right direction.

We are counting down the days (as you are with Cabo) to see those two wonderful kids!

  7. I think you are going to have to buy the green witch and use her as a centerpiece on the table when he decides veggies aren't for him anymore. ha ha ha! You are so clever. ;)

  8. LOL--that is too funny! I don't think you are lying to him as much as telling him a story so he will understand the importance of eating his veggies and being sweet to his little sister. I can guarantee it won't be the last time you do it! Whatever works for the Mama is okay!

  9. We are hoping to get away this fall to take the girls to Sea World... We took them 5 years ago & had a fun time!

I LOVE my camera! It is a Nikon D50 digital slr body with Nikon lenses. I would highly recommend a Nikon... they are definitely worth the investment!

I read in one of your posts that you are going to Cabo! Brandon & I went in August and had soooooo much fun! I would recommend that you take the Wine & Jazz boat excursion! It's the big yellow catamaran (sp?) We had amazing views on the ride! I've been lazy and haven't posted any of our pictures yet!
