Our TERRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY!!

Oh my heart is broken in 2! One of my biggest fears has happened. I've had to take a child to the emergency room. My precious, beautiful baby boy got hurt today....really hurt. I was fixing the kids breakfast while the kids were playing on the deck outside. I leave the door open and can watch them while I'm in the kitchen. Well, then the scream you never want to hear happened. It's one of those 'give you nightmares' type of scream. Hudson came running to me holding his face. And here's a disclaimer.....I don't do will in panic-type situations. I immediately want to throw-up and I automatically feel dizzy. The room was spinning the moment I heard the scream. Hudson fell from his fort onto the wood that connects the fort at the bottom....face first. He was bleeding and immediately swollen. He looked HORRIBLE! I could not get a hold of Matt because he was in a meeting and did not have his phone. I think I spent 20 minutes or so 'doing stuff' to help him, but really I think I was running in circles. I just needed someone to tell me what to do. I called the dr. and they told me to take him to the ER...I called Matt's DR. Daddy and he told me to take him in to the ER. So I thru clothes on us all, grabbed sippy cups, suckers, goldfish, books, 2 pirates, and BAY....and off we went. He is OK...it looks far worse than what it is. He did have that super glue face stuff put on part of his wound. We also had to go and have x-ray's done on his face. We haven't heard back yet, but they don't think anything is wrong. We are on an antibiotic for prevention of infection as well as Motrin every 4-6 hours. He looks so pitiful and so sad. He is being his 'normal' funny self which makes me happy. We haven't had tears in a couple of hours either. When Matt saw him for the first time (he left work to come be with us) he teared up. We have not ever seen either one of our kids really hurt before. It's HORRIBLE! We both promised Hudson a new toy. {yeah, that's all he needs, right?} I took him ANYWHERE he wanted for lunch and he picked Chick-fil-a. Right about now he could get anything from Mommy and Daddy. Anything to bring the smiles back!

So there you have it, my first trip to the ER with my little man. It was not fun, but he was so tough and sooo good. Harper too. We were gone from 9-1. I am so thankful that he is ok and will recover. His pretty little face is just a little bruised up and probably will be for a while. I think both of his eyes are going to be black. Hudson said it looks like Captain Hook got him with his hook. It actually does. At least he thinks that is pretty cool! Here's a picture of our little patient. My sweet, brave baby boy!

***Update...the doctor called and his x-rays came back clear. Thank goodness!!!***

  1. Oh no...bless his heart! I wasn't prepared for the actual picture! I wish it would have never happened, but I'm glad it didn't happen on my "watch" next week. I promise we will be extra, extra careful. Tell him that Mini loves him and can't wait to be with him and Harper.

  3. Poor Hudson. My emotions are running high, so I cried like a baby reading this post. I dread the day that I hear that horrible scream that sends chills up your spine. Kiss his sweet, little cheek. I hope he continues to heal quickly and pain-free.
