Our Oklahoma Visit!

The kids and I left last Monday morning and were on our way north bound 35 for Norman, Oklahoma. I was a little hesitant about our drive just because 7 hours by myself seemed so intimidating. I have come to the conclusion that we are early morning drivers. It is so nice to just get up and go. Before you know it it's been 5 hours and it's only 10:00. The kids did AMAZING. They were sooooooo good. In fact, I could even say that we had a fun little road trip with it being just the 3 of us. They really were perfect and so enjoyable. We had plenty of movies going, plentiful snacks & sippy cups, and we only made 2 stops. My sweet friend Leslie had a yummy breakfast ready for us at her beautiful home in Keller @ 9:30. The kids got to run around and get their wiggles out before we hit the last 2 and 1/2 hour trek. It was a nice stop and good for a quick catch up. Thank you Leslie for breakfast and the potty break! After we left the kids fell asleep and the rest of the drive was a piece of cake.

We had a wonderful time in OK. I really was not ready to leave come Sunday. We spent the first part of the week just vegging out. Not even kidding. Tuesday I don't even think we got out of our pjs. The kids played hard and had fun being loved on by their mini and papa. I was totally spoiled because it was really 'mama off duty' while I was there. I got to SLEEP IN every.single.morning. Not even joking. Slept past 9 each day. It was fantastic. Karen also treated me to getting my hair colored and cut....hallelujah!!! I don't even have to say how great that was. I spent an afternoon on vacation in their hammock....truly a get-away. I loved it!! I really don't think I prepared one meal for my children nor did I prepare one single sippy cup. We were all spoiled rotten and boy was it nice!!

Thursday my sweet hubby flew in to Oklahoma City and my SIL's arrived. It was a lot of fun having all of the family home together. We went wedding dress shopping for Lauren on Friday and that was a blast. She is going to make a beauuuuuuutiful bride. We cannot wait until June 5th! What is so fantastic and sooo romantic is that their wedding took a total 180 degree change while we were there. They decided they did not want a 'formal' wedding, but wanted to have a small family wedding in a field surrounded by the mountains in Crested Butte, CO. So in June we'll all make our way to CO and gather in a field and stand around Tyson and Lauren as they become husband and wife. How magical! Soo romantic and so sweet and so Tyson and Lauren. We are planning on making a family vacation out of it. I can hardly wait!!!

We left Sunday morning and made it in time to meet my friend Amanda, husband Dusty, her parents and brother for breakfast before church. It was SO good to see them and such a tease. Too short, but I'll take what I can get. We were home by 2. We spent Sunday and Monday just playing and getting things back in order.

Today was my first day @ my Ladies Bible Study. Oh, how this is a highlight in my week. Truly a blessing. I am starting my 3rd Beth Moore Lesson "The Patriarchs". I am really looking forward to this study. My Hudman starts his very first day of Preschool in the morning. I am really excited for him and know he's going to have such a great year. (He better, after all I did camp out over night to get him in...).

2 weeks from now we'll be enjoy the cool California weather @ Disneyland. We are 100% PUMPED! Our tickets/packet came in the mail. I am certain this week we spend on vacation as a family will always be so special to me. Hudson and Harper are at such precious ages. I can't wait to see their little faces as they experience all of the wonders of a Disney vacation.

And of course what would any blog be without pictures...

Probably my favorite picture of the week. Papa left each evening for his night shift at the hospital, and while Papa was getting ready Hudson went and got dressed in his doctor's outfit. And Hudson even was the one that asked me to take a picture of them. SO sweet!

The army man riding his bike. (yes, we packed a few of his costumes).

Our Ace! What a great puppy dog we have. He's almost 6!

Huddy would get sick of wearing his costume and the just strip to his undies and play. I think he and Papa were having a fun time...Ace too.

One of the days we stayed in our pjs the entire day. Harper was having a good time.

A sweet moment with mini.

Huddy "napping' in the hammock.

Huddy made a beach in the chiminea. He had so much fun getting all dirty and playing in there.
These next few pictures were taken over the last few days that we have been back.

Dr. Hud.

The Fairy Pirate.

Batman!!!

Just a cute one of my girl.

Batgirl!!

Just soooo cute! No words for this one.
It's good to be home!!

  2. When do you leave on your trip? We head to Disneyworld with the kids in 2 weeks (we leave the 23rd). We were never Disney people growing up, but we had such a fabulous time 2 years ago, that Kevin and I couldn't wait to go back again (seriously, our favorite trip we have been on and we have been all over the world!) Seeing our boys experience it is one of my favorite joys of parenting so far (and they were just your kids ages when we went...4 and 2).

Can't wait to hear how Hudson and Harper like everything! You guys are going to have so much fun!

  4. I always love seeing your vacation pics. :) So many cute ones! And the pictures of the kids in their dress up clothes are hilarious. But I agree, the one of Hudson and his Papa is pretty sweet. It's just one of those pictures to be treasured for a long time, I am sure. Hope yall are great! Have a great weekend!
