San Antonio's "ARCTIC BLAST"

Who could not love that sweet face?

We had a morning of the dreaded "Arctic Blast" that hit our country last week.  San Antonio schools were canceled on Friday due to the icy, sleety, snowy mixture that was packed on our roads.  It was all gone by noon, but we had fun nonetheless.  Harper's first words that morning when she saw the snow was, "Great!  Now we can build us a snow reindeer."  I found that hilarious because it showed how we just don't get snow here.  It was fun for the moment, but I was glad to see it melt and go away.  I am the BIGGEST cold weather wimp.  If it gets below 50, I'll do everything I can to not leave the house.  I do not get the least bit jealous when I see all of the snowy pictures from across Texas and the rest of the country.  It screams to me miserable and cabin fever insanity.  To me snow is good for one little photo opp and then I like to be inside where it's warm with a warm beverage in my hand.  I know 100% wimp.  Now I will say this....I do love visiting cold places (visiting is the key word here), but I am always thrilled to come back to my South Texas winter.  Our few days of this bitter cold did confirm to me that we live in the right spot.
Yummy hot chocolate.

Matt took the kids outside to play in the winter mix.  They sled down the hills in laundry baskets.  They really had a blast.  Harper did not last too long, but Hud sure did.  They came in all rosy cheeked, red nosed, chapped lips, and cracked hands.  We had plenty of hot chocolate and time by the fire to defrost.  Holton and I took it all in from the indoors.  It was 'to the bone' cold.

On a side note---For Christmas Hudson got boxer shorts in his stocking.  That is all he has worn to sleep in since Christmas.  He thinks they are SO COOL.  We also got him some 'muscle shirts'. This boy thinks he is tough stuff in those shirts.  (I really think he likes it because he thinks he looks tough like daddy).  :)  But really that is his thing now....you will see in all the pictures below that is what he has on...no matter the temp outside.
Harper and Ace defrosting by the fire.
That's about it...We have stayed put the last few days.  We are really looking forward to the beautiful weekend that is ahead.  Hoping to get outside, play, and take a few walks.  Friday night we have a date night from the sweet ladies at mentoring moms.  The ladies and their husbands are babysitting for us up at the church so we can get a hot Valentine's date in with our men.  (totally free)!  They are too fantastic for words!  Matt and I are looking forward to a date with our 1 month old side kick.  (I hope he cooperates).  It'll be great to get out and have alone time fun!

I leave you with a few random, sweet pictures from the last few days.

My boys.  Sweet brother time.
I was taking pictures of Hudson and Holton when I caught this sweet daddy/daughter moment.  My goodness he is putty in her hands.
While I was cooking the kids breakfast, I caught Hudson just staring at Holton.  Such a sweet little moment.

My little chubber wubbers.  I'm telling you, if the world could get a dose of Holton's sweetness, this world would be a better place.  He just oozes the sweetness that makes you want to pause time.  Don't even ask how many times I kiss those cheeks every day....countless.
