Hudson News...

I had Hudson's parent-teacher conference on Thursday of last week.  Since this blog is a journal for my children, I have to toot Hudson's horn....and toot it LOUD I will!  I was really excited to go and sit with Mrs. C and hear everything she had to say about our Huddy boy.  We really love Hudson's teacher.  She is so kind, so upbeat, so fun, and very positive.  You can tell she is passionate about Kindergarten.  Hudson really loves Mrs. C, and always has sweet things to say about her.  I have said it before, but I have been blown away with Kindergarten so far this year.  We love everything about the school we attend, and have been so encouraged by the things Hudson is learning.  Not only the academics that he is learning, but I love that character building is equally as important as the academics.  They feel so strongly about making your children leaders.  Hudson's school is very big on Sean Covey's 7 Habits of Happy Kids:

Habit 1
Be Proactive
I THINK first, and then I make a CHOICE.   EVERYTHING I do is a CHOICE.
Habit 2
Begin With the End in Mind
First, I think about what I want.  I then do what will make it happen!

Habit 3
Put First Things First
I only THINK and DO what is most important!

Habit 4
Think Win-Win
We think of a solution where no one gives up anything and everyone wins!

Habit 5
Seek First To Understand and Then Be Understood
First, I listen to others so that I may understand.  I then repeat their thoughts back.  Others will then do that for me, too!

Habit 6
Synergize
Because we have different strengths, we can work together to come up with a better idea than we could on our own.

Habit 7
Sharpen the Saw
I will learn, exercise, eat healthily, make deposits in emotional bank accounts, and do what I know is right!

It is just great stuff that is building him up.  Hudson talks a lot about 'win win' situations and how his behavior and actions need to be a win/win.  He is quick to point out when Harper is making a loose/loose decision.  HA!

---Anyway, Thursday I sat with Hudson's teacher and it could not have possibly gone any better.  I teared up time after time because I was BURSTING with pride for my boy.  The very first thing that came out of her mouth was, "I want you to know that if I ever had a little boy, I would want him to be just like Hudson."  That blew me away and meant the world to me.  Matt and I prayed so long and hard for Hudson's Kindergarten teacher.  I longed for her to adore him for the little boy he is.  What an answered prayer.  She continued to say that he is the 'model student' that is loud, playful, and all boy on the playground, but he knows that when they come back to the classroom it's time to settle down and do his work.  She is so proud of how hard he works and that he takes such pride in doing a good job.  She said he is kind to everyone and adapts to any and all situations.  You know as a mother you are your child's #1 fan, but to hear such great things about Hudson made my heart just swell.  As for his academics, he was far ahead of the curve and doing fantastic.  She is ready to get this boy reading....and he is so ready too.

We have watched Hudson grow up right before our eyes over these last few months.  I am so thankful Kindergarten has been such a positive transition for Hudson.  We could not be prouder of the little boy he is, and how hard he works.  What a blessing Mrs. C is to us as well as Hudson's school.  Not a day passes where I don't think of her and the positive influence she is having on Hudson's life everyday.  It thrills my heart to see his smile as he leaves for school each day.  I am certain that Kindergarten sets the tone for the way children view going to school.  I could not be more thankful for what a great year we are off to!

  1. What an awesome post!!! So sweet, I got teary eyed even reading it! I just have to add, it sounds like his teacher is amazing and an amazing fit for Hudson, but don't forget who is raising him too. That says ALOT for his success!
