Family Staycation

Day one of summer we hit the ground running.  Off we went a mere 15 minutes away to our STAYcation down the street.  We went to the JW Marriott and it was wonderful.  We had so much fun.  We stayed 2 nights/3 days and cram packed it in.  We started early and didn't come in until they were shutting the place down.  Matt's mom came for the weekend to keep Holton for us.  He is such a busy, non-stop toddler that puts a completely different dynamic on any experience.  You can't take your eyes off him for a second or he's off getting into something.  He's just at that age.  We knew if we brought him along that he would take up most of our attention.  As sad as we were to leave him behind, it was a good call.  We were able to go go go without having to go in for a nap or early for bedtime.  I have to say though that the 4 of us missed him, and missed him bad.  It was almost too much not having him there.  Hudson and Harper once said that it was rude of Matt and I to not bring him.  :)--I'm so glad they are so crazy about their baby brother.  Next year Holton will definitely join in on the fun.

We went to the JW last year before Hudson started Kinder.  We had a BLAST and knew this would be something we would try and do yearly.  We participated in most everything they offered there.  There is one jam packed schedule that you can follow if you choose.  Kids did the gummy worm chase, s'mores, flick and float, zoomagination, and the star gazing late at night (we even saw Saturn...it was really neat).  The best part of the weekend was that it was not the least bit crowded, so many times we just sent the kids off to ride the slides.  They'd check in after each one.  It was great.  Hudson is tall enough to share a tube with Harper, so they had a big time going off together...and Hud felt very 'big brother'.  :)
These 2 were water slide machines.

Harper and I hung out in the little kid part quite a bit.  She loved the little slides and all the fun stuff to climb on.

This girl knows how to rock a pair of goggles.
Harp got sunscreen in her eyes so she took a good long nap while the boys played.  I stayed with her and read my book.  It was a nice, quiet break.
We had a great, big room with an awesome balcony.  The kids loved it.  We ate breakfast out there one morning.  It was really nice.

I cannot believe my baby girl is about to be 5.

Handsome Hud.  I love this picture of him.

I love how she is looking up at him.  They may fight like cats and dogs some time, but they really do love each other.

My big 2.  I can't believe we'll have double this.

  3. This is FABULOUS! We are totally going there someday! Allison, your kids are just GORGEOUS, every single one of them! You and Matt are such fun parents, and I love how intentional you are with your time with them. I can't wait to do fun stuff like this when P is older! I admire your parenting so much, and hope I can ENJOY my kids as much as you do!
