Birthday # 3 and a fun weekend!

We had a great time in Tyler. We got to see a lot of family and good friends, enjoy wonderful food, and show off our 1 year old. It felt good to be home. My mom out did herself as usual. She is the most wonderful cook I know....well, she and my grandmother. So when we go home we can count on something good in the kitchen...good and LOTS of calories. Hudson had a lot of fun, and he now has more toys than we know what to do with. He got 3 little tike fun toys. They are: car, 4-wheeler, and a rocking horse...except it is a blue dog instead of a horse. All are really cute and he LOVES them all. He is such a little boy. Once he is on one of the toys he is making the car sounds while spit is flying everywhere. It's adorable. We celebrated his party Saturday evening at the park. Tyler parks are so pretty. Hudson loved all the attention from everyone there. There were about 15 friends/family who came for the good food and fun. It was HOT...but that is expected on a July evening! Hudson's cake, oh my goodness, it was to die for. My mom went to the bakery that did our wedding cakes. She did a strawberry shortcake CAKE. It was beautiful and delicious! We did not let Hudson dig into this cake. It was so hot out there, so I just stripped him and fed him this cake. (he did dig into 2 other cakes). So now we are all finished with Hudson's birthdays. I have to admit that we are sick of cake. This is NOT good for the diet! Overall, all 3 parties were special and so fun! Hudson has been showered with love and gifts. I can't wait to get into our house and let him actually have room to play with all of his new toys.

Yesterday was Hudson's 1 year old well-check appointment. He is as healthy as a horse and doing great developmentally! He weighs 21 and 1/2 lbs and is 31 inches long. Long and lean is how she described him because he is in the 25th % for weight and 90% for height. Hudson must have gotten my families tall genes because Hudson is as big as Matt was when he was 2 years old. :) We are excited about that! :) The doctor said that Hudson's vocabulary is what she is happy to see an 18 mo-2 year old have. So we are very proud of our little chatter box! Still no steps. Hudson will stand up without holding on to anything, but crawling is his favorite way to get around. I'm in no hurry. I would love it if he learned to walk in our new house. What a precious memory to make.

We move the first weekend in August...we close on the house the 31st. We are so excited. No packing yet. I am going to wait until the week before we move to start. I am sending Hudson to my parents so I can paint a few rooms and pack without him pulling everything I pack out of the boxes. Packing up our apartment with him here would just be a nightmare. We are really excited about moving and still are in shock that it really is going to happen. What a fun time in our lives this is!!

  1. It was good talking to you today. If it is possible, Hud is getting cuter and cuter. Good luck with the packing, and let me know if Hud needs his Aunt Cow to come up and entertain:)

  3. Looks like a fun week! To answer your question from forever ago, I live pretty close to there. I'm in the Ridglea area close to Camp Bowie. My parents go to Altamesa for church, but I go to Richland Hills - not much in the way of a singles program at Altamesa. I also have some good couple friends at Altamesa if y'all are wanting to get involved there, and I assume you know that Stephanie and Brandon Gilkey are there too. It's so fun that you guys are coming this way!
