I have a one year old...

I just can't believe it. Hudson is now a BIG ONE year old! Yesterday was his first birthday and it was great. I LOVE birthdays. I always have. I love everything about the day, so yesterday was no exception. We went into Hudson's room yesterday morning singing happy birthday with the camcorder in hand. He was so excited and just smiled and smiled. Then we played the morning away with his new toys. We met Matt and Mel for lunch and had a great bday lunch. I took Hudson to have his haircut and he did great (because he had a sucker to distract him). He looks so grown up. We went and had his pictures made yesterday evening too. I went and bought a small cake and brought it with us. The last few pictures taken were of him stuffing his face with cake.....ADORABLE!!! I love the pictures!

Hudson has brought so much joy to our lives this past year. I reflected back on the day we first met him and how immediately we were in love and so proud of our beautiful boy. I remember the first night in the hospital after everyone had left Matt and I were in the small hospital bed together just in awe of this precious boy. We just stared in awe over how perfect he was. We prayed over Hudson that night. There is something powerful after nine months of wondering what your baby is going to look like, wondering what it would feel like to hold your baby....and then to finally do it...no words can describe it! We talked about what he was going to be like a year from then. All the different emotions that we had that first day is still difficult to put into words. But that first night alone together with our newborn boy is one that will always stand out in my mind. Our little Hudson is adorable, sweet, funny, and a light in my life. I love how he smiles when we walk in to get him in the mornings, I love how he loves to play with his toys, I love how he tries so hard to copy every word we say, I love that he cuddles with me and his blankie before he goes to bed, I love that he is a great great great sleeper, I love that he dances in church, I love that he has big blue eyes, I love his big teeth in his little mouth, I love that he was the first baby on both sides of our family, I love how much our families love him, I love that I got to experience all the "firsts" that this year held, but most of all I love that he is my little boy....perfect in every way!!
