Last Tuesday was our big day. We found out that we were expecting Harper Faith, and everyone was on cloud 9. Matt's mom and sister were in town visiting us, so we decided to go to the zoo. (I know I write about the zoo almost weekly...but it's our FAVORITE). Hudson was Mr. Personality that day. He was being so cute and so funny. He could not have been in a better mood. (I think it was because he knew he was going to have a baby sister). :) We had a great time at the zoo and afterwards we went across the street to the Shops on University. Again, Hud was a trooper going from store to store. He was having a great ol' time. We were killing time for Matt to get off of work and meet us at Mi Cocina...our FAVORITE! So after we were done shopping we headed to dinner. In the car ride over Hudson was being super goofy making everyone laugh. OK...so we drive up to dinner, and I am not kidding, we walk in the restaurant and it was like a light switch went off and we had a different child. He started fussing and pulling on his ear. He had a fever. He wanted mommy or daddy. He did not want to be in a high chair, he wanted to be held. He did not even want a sucker...big deal for him. So it was very obvious that he was sick. I was just in shock that it came on so quick and out of nowhere. So Matt and I decided to get our meals to-go and get out of there fast. Hud was on the verge of a melt-down. On our drive home I called the doctor and they called us in those numbing drops for the ear. Once we left Mi Cocina until he went to bed, Hudson did not utter one word. That has NEVER happened before. He just wanted to sit in our laps and watch The Wiggles. I made an apt. for the following day to get him in to the doctor. He was acting WAY better the next day, but it was just because of the drops I found out later. I took him in that afternoon and she looked in his ears and cringed. She said his ear drums were bulging and that she thought one would bust. She also said that he should be experiencing the worst pain EVER. I started crying in the doctors office because I felt so horrible for him. I had NO clue it was so bad. This was his second time ever to go to the doctor for an illness. Also he gave us no signs (prior to Tues. night) that it was so horrible. She said he has a high tolerance of pain and that when he lets on that he is feeling bad that he must be feeling BAD.
So Hud has been on a mega antibiotic and those life saving ear drops. Luckily his ear drum did not burst, and he is on the road to recovery. Here it is Sunday and he is JUST NOW today starting to be himself. I felt like I was nursing again because he was up at 11, 3, and 5 for about 3 nights. Whenever the drops wore off he was miserable.
I have to give a BIG "SHOUT OUT" to the BEST DADDY in the WHOLE WORLD. Matt has been so wonderful this week while Hudson has been sick. He got up most nights with him. (We made this deal a while ago that while I am pregnant, Matt gets to be the one on night duty). That is just because I'll be getting my fair share in come July....I mean seriously how many daddys would do that??? Hudson never wakes up at night, so this past week was pretty tough. I truly feel that Matt and I are equals when it comes to parenting. He provides just as much comfort to our sick boy as I do. There is no "I want my mommy, or I want my daddy" with Hudson. Whoever is there is all he wants. I am so thankful that Hud and I lucked out in the Daddy department. He is one of a kind and the WORLDS BEST in our book! When Matt went to pick up the medicine, it was the really high non generic type. So with our insurance it was in the higher bracket. He also had to buy a few more things for Hudson. When Matt got home he was like, "I would have spent 500 dollars at Walgreens if I knew it would make him better." Pretty sweet guy in my opinion! We love you soooooooooo much!

ReplyDeleteEar infections are the pits. Poor guy! Glad he is feeling better...we are coming to go to a "good zoo" real soon!
ReplyDeleteYUCK!! I am so sorry he had ear infections. I think that is the worst pain ever. Poor thing. I just hate that he was hurting so bad. What a cute mom you were to cry for him. I love that about you.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are Super Duper lucky to have Matt as your husband. I'm telling you that comment he left on your blog almost made me cry. He is such an awesome husband and daddy. Not to toot my own horn (toot toot) but I am lucky in many of the same ways!! Glen is everything that I have ever dreamed in a husband and daddy. How blesses are we?
Poor Hudson! I am glad he is feeling so much better. I would have cried in the doctor's office also. It is SO hard to tell when your kids are sick anyway, so I can't imagine how hard it would be with Hudson.
ReplyDeleteI, too, feel really blessed that Boone will get up in the middle of the night with Jackson. I am glad that you have Matt to help you out so much!
I had the exact same high pain tolerance when I was little - my appendix actually ruptured because I didn't start complaining until it was too late...and I turned out just fine (pretty much)! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope Hudson feels better soon! And I hope that you will be okay having to deal with all of this while you're pregnant...my prayers are with you!
Oh my goodness, I had no idea! Matt IS the best dad. I hope Adam is just like him =) What a sweet father and husband!!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad he is feeling better. Guess you guys didn't make it to church Sat night. Give me a call when you have a break.

Good morning Love! Your valentine present is somewhere in this room!
ReplyDeleteHappy Hunting!!!!!
I just copied them and pasted the links from my old blog template. It was kind of tricky to get it the way I liked it.
ReplyDeleteAllison, I love your new layout...looks just like you and your new house, too! I am so excited that we get to start decorating a "little girl's room", "big boy's room" (though he will always be our baby boy!), and the bathroom they will share...such fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Hudson is finally feeling better. It was a wonderful day and such a shock when it ended that way. I must say that you and Matt are just the best parents ever! Hudson and Harper are very lucky to have you two. I am equally as proud of both of you.
I watched your engagement/wedding video the other day and while I was smiling, laughing, and crying...I was thinking the whole time how you two are meant for each other and how much your lives have changed. God has really blessed your marriage and new growing family. It just keeps getting better every year!
I love you both!

Cute new layout! Where did you get it from?
ReplyDeleteHow was Prima's?
I LOVE your new layout! Since I can't go have fun tomorrow, I am at least going to try to make my blog as cool as yours! Post lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteLove the layout! About knitting, my mom taught me how to do it and it's really not that hard. You could probably even teach yourself if you were really interested in learning! Michaels (the craft store) has a video on their website that shows you how to knit. Although, it would probably be easier to learn from someone in person! If I wasn't thousands of miles away, I would teach you! Have a great day!
