I don't even know where to start! Life has taken us by a storm, but we are having so much fun! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments in our last 2 posts. Here is a VERY brief recap...If you want the whole story, you'll just have to ask me later.

Harper did surprise us that early morning on July 5th. It was an experience that I will never EVER forget...thats for sure. We made it to the hospital and were admitted at 3 am, and she came flying out 2 and 1/2 hours later at 5:32. It was by far the most traumatic experience of my life. My doctor, who I love, was on vacation for the week of the 4th, and that is why we were inducing on the 9th. Having to use the doctor on-call is one reason why it was such a mess that night. I had the nurse from hell...and that is saying it so very very nicely. She was so so horrible to us. She did not think I needed my epidural because she thought I would be in labor WAY into that day. We found out later that it was written in my chart to give me my epidural when I asked for it. She was so neglectful. She would not even check on me. I'd ring for her and BEG for something to help the pain, and she LIED and said the dr said no drugs yet. Everything that happened that was bad that night was because of her, and that is the truth. Let me tell you, I would not wish natural childbirth on my very worst enemy! It was horrible and so scary when she came so fast and that there was not a doctor in sight. Matt said it was like Little House on the Prairie with the whole natural thing. It really felt like Matt and I were alone having this baby. So believe me when I say that it's true...your second does come quicker than your first! I have always wanted 3 kids. We'll see if that happens now. How fast would that one come??? In 30 minutes??

After Harper got here and we got settled in our new hospital room things got WAY better. My postpartum care was excellent, and my new nurses were wonderful. Harper was just perfect and so beautiful. It was so great to just enjoy her. We came home on Friday and had LOADS of company. My mom stayed with us 9 days. It was soooooooooooooooooo great having her here. She takes very good care of all of us. She cooked, cleaned, played with Hudson, and helped out more than ever. I don't think I could have children without mom coming for that first week at home. Thank you, thank you, thank you MOM for taking a week of your vacation to help us out!!!!

Harper is such a great baby. She really has been easy so far. She nurses great and wakes up 2 times a night (that still takes getting used to). I have enjoyed her sooo much. I remember thinking before she was born that I just could not see how I could possibly love another like I love Hudson. Well, you can! Your heart must double in size because this little girl has us totally smitten and in love! Hudson is really sweet with her too. He likes to hold her and go check on "baby Harper". I let him help me as much as possible. I try my best to keep him involved. I let him get diapers out and wipes...(I forgot how many diapers you go thru with a newborn). He has had his "I need your attention" moments where he has acted out. But overall it has been a smooth transition going from a family of 3 to a family of 4. So far I think, which I agree with you Tracey, going from 1 to 2 has been far easier than 0 to 1. I think this time around I knew, somewhat, of what to expect. I really have loved every minute!!!

Hudson turned the BIG 2 on July 13th. I still can't believe that my baby boy is 2. Time sure has flown by in a hurry. He is the cutest, funniest, smartest 2 year old I know. We just adore him. We had a small party with family come over Friday night. My cousins and their kids came. All 6 of my grandmother's great-grandchildren were here. It was really fun and we all enjoyed ourselves. Hudson has an ABUNDANCE of new cars and trucks. That is really what he is into these days. He loves the "men" (which are tiny action figure type people) to drive the cars and trucks. I love watching him get down on all fours and play. The noises he makes are so cute too. He is such the little boy! We took him Monday for his 2 year well-check apt. You will NEVER guess what his projected height is for when he is an adult. 6'2!!!! How funny is that? Matt and I just died laughing when the doctor said that. YAY for me and my family's tall genes!!!! Afterwards Matt and I were joking at how goofy our family pictures will be. So anyways Hudson was 97% for his height and 50% for his weight. Long and lean and perfectly healthy! What blew me away is how he grew 4 inches and 4 lbs since his 18 month apt. Maybe its the NO veggie diet we are feeding him. HA! Really though, he does not like anything green. That is such a battle with him.

Matt's mom has been here since Monday. So pretty much, I have only been on my own with 2 kids for just 1 day. So we'll see how good I do next week. Should be interesting. It has been so nice having both moms here for these last 2 weeks. My house has been so clean, laundry has been done, Hudson entertained, food provided....ect. I am so blessed to have family willing to help out so much. Thank you MINI for all your help! This transition has been far easier with mom and mini here!

OK....now what you all have been wanting. PICTURES! We had a photographer come to our house last week to take our pics. Here are a few of my favorites. And then here are a few pictures that I have taken on my camera too.

Spider-Man (Hud) and Leonardo (Walker) hours before Harper's big debut

Harper and Cousin Arden. They are exactly 1 month apart!

Just a sweet close-up!

All 6! Hudson, Zoe, Maddie, Harper, Walker, and Arden.

Such a sweet big brother!

And now for my FAVORITES from our picture day!

Daddy and his baby girl.

Our little fairy.

Hudson was not in a picture mood that day. This was 1 of like 3 pictures we were able to get as a family. Maybe next time!

I love this one. I think it is so different and unique of the 2 of us.

Hud and his new truck!

My sweet boy!

Beautiful!

Harper on her dresser.

Harper in her daddy's arms.

  5. I LOVE the pictures so much and am glad to finally hear an update! I am so sorry about the nurse. At the hospital where I work, the nastiest nurses we have contact with are a couple of the labor and delivery nurses. You would think they would be the nicest! I am glad things are better and look forward to more pictures!

Wow what a hard experiance. I am sorry that things went the way they did, but you have a beautiful one. I am glad that you are doing well now, and it is very encouraging to know that things seem easier with two. That gives me a lot of hope. Not that Maddison has been hard or anything, it is just a whole new learning experience.

  17. I am SO sorry to hear about your awful nurse! I have heard similar stories about a nurse from Boone's dad, who is a doctor and used to deliver babies. How awful! You were a trooper though!

These pictures are BEAUTIFUL! Harper is precious, and I love every single one of those pictures. I can't believe your big boy is now 2!

  21. allison, she is so beautiful, and of course once again kristen's pictures are amazing...isn't it hard to choose which ones you want when they are all amazing?! i LOVE the one with you and her...she definitely has your lips and i bet daddy will want that one for his office for sure!

okay, and now that we both have two we REALLY need to get these kiddos together...now that i am out of my prison (aka the hospital, and boy can i share some nurse stories with you too! they really do make all the difference, nice or horrible-they are who you are really with all the time so if they are awful like that, i know it is miserable!) but now she is here, and she is PERFECT! maybe a girlfriend for baby sam?!

we definitely need to get Hud and Jack together...i think they would have a blast together...hopefully i will see you soon at church or something and i can meet that sweet girl too!
