A lot going on....

Matt was away in Vegas this past week, so Hudson went to Tyler to visit everyone. My mom brought Hudson home on Friday night and she stayed the weekend with us. I always love having my mom here....can't beat it no matter how old you are. She kept the kids Sat. night while Matt and I went to the Dave Matthews concert. It was so fun to get away for an evening together and have fun. I can tell I am getting old because there was this cute, sweet couple ahead of us. Matt and I were thinking that they were probably Freshman at SMU. You could just tell. They were probably on a first date because they looked some what awkward in the beginning. WELL, by the end of the night they were mugging down making out BIG TIME RIGHT IN FRONT of everyone. I was so distracted because I kept thinking how disappointed their mothers would be if they knew how they were acting. These adorable young kids who you could tell came from good families were acting like kids in line at Six Flags, and all I could think about were what their moms would be thinking right now. AM I GETTING OLD OR WHAT???
Anyways, Matt and I had such a great time together. You can't beat those dates!!! I long for them, but always can't wait to get home to those sweet babies. The kids did great for J. They had fun, but my mom said the next day that she appreciates me more than ever because 2 of them is a tough, non-stop job. I have to agree, but I don't know any different anymore.

This week was a big deal for Miss Harper. She slept 11 hours straight!!! This only happened once, but WOW, that's huge!!! I was miserable and soooooo ready for her to wake up. (you breast-feeding moms know what I am talking about). So that was really exciting for us!! She'll be 3 months old next week! Time sure flies when you are having fun.

I have some news about my buddy Huddy. He starts Mon/Wed school at a near-by church next week. OH MY WORD IS THIS BIG!!! I am full of so many different mixed emotions. From excitement, sad, nervous, guilty, and again EXCITED! I know it will be so great for him. He needs to interact more with kids his own age. Bible class once a week and the occasional play-date just isn't enough. It'll also be good for me to get things done around here and have some one-on-one time with Harper. Let me tell you what makes me the saddest. PACKING HIS LUNCH!! Is that silly or what? But really the thought of making him a lunch and him eating at "school" makes me so sad. I bought him a cute little monkey backpack and matching lunchbox. The backpack has his name monogrammed on it. He thinks it's pretty neat. So I'll be sure to write about this new experience next week!

On another Hud note, after reading several blogs on potty training their kids, I decided to start the process. I set the tee-tee timer ALL DAY LONG and we go potty. We are not pressuring him in the least, but he likes it and so far so good. He pooped 2 days in a row. Talk about a POTTY DANCE from mommy. That's a BIG DEAL!! We just sit and read and talk about ALL the people we know who poo poo in the potty. He'll say, "daddy goes poo poo in the potty, Nana goes poo poo, Unk goes poo poo in the potty, Jason goes poo poo, Walker and Maddie go poo poo in the potty, and Ninny and Papa go poo poo.....pretty much if he knows you he mentioned that you go poo poo in the potty. Hey, whatever works right??? So we celebrated our victory with a fudge pop! Who knows how long it'll take him to fully potty train, but just getting him to go is a big deal...so we'll just keep on keepin' on!

So here are pictures of: Vegas, baby! Did I mention that he stayed in Caesars Palace??? Yeah, makes me want to barf! Also listed is a picture of the concert and a short snip-it video of Dave singing the Doobie Brothers. Daddy and his babies looking out the playroom window. My cute Hud yesterday morning. Hud all messy eating his fudge pop. And a picture of Unk and Harper that was taken about a week ago. ENJOY!

  3. Good for Harper sleeping that long! I have been excited with the 6-7 hour stretches, but 11 hours!!
    That's great!

I am a routine mommy...just like you!! Everything works so much better when kids nap and are on a schedule. And it makes for a happy mommy!!

You will love the time you have when Hudson is at school! Kennan also goes twice a week and it is hard to see him go, but fun to pick him up! You will have some great time for errands and Harper!

We are going to be in TX Oct 19-27. Maybe one of those mornings we can get the kids together with Leslie and Haper for a play date. What do you think??

  4. I don't have any kids but even I get cranky when I am off my own routine, so I can only imagine what a 2 yr. old would be like. You seem like a great mommy to your adorable little ones!

Thanks for the DMB video...they are the best! I had a few friends that went and said it rocked!

BTW--do you mind if I put you in my list of links? I wanted to ask you first :)

    Have a great day!

  5. WOW, you were ready for this post huh?? That was a long one. I love hearing about your adventures as a mom!! :)

Yeah on Potty Training. Jude is doing ok. He told his teacher yesterday that he needed to go which was HUGE!! But like you I am not pressuring...at the moment. Ha.

Aww. I love how you are a sentimental mom. I am SO like that. Packing that lunch will be hard the first time and then when you see how much fun he is having, it will be easier.

LOVE the pictures!! Hudson looks SO much like Matt to me!! What a cutie!!

  7. I was at Caesars on Wednesday too!!! I was in Vegas from Monday til Thursday morning for work - mostly in the MGM Grand but my friend Lauren and I hung out at Caesars and Bellagio on our last night there (the only night we didn't have to entertain clients!)
