"I Need Some Candy"

OK, I seriously have a new FAVORITE HOLIDAY! We had a BLAST Halloween. Our neighborhood goes all out and we all had a great time. Daddy Pops and Grammy made it here on Friday afternoon. We were all so excited for them to come. It was their first visit here so that helped with the anticipations. Hudson asked a million times "are they here yet??" We played 'trick or treat' all morning. So between the grandparents coming and Halloween, Hudson's excitement level was thru the roof.

At 5:30 on Friday they had a little 'parade' type thing for the kids. We walked over to the pavilion area to find tons of kids and their parents. The costumes were so cute. We all marched around the circle drive then were 'dispersed' to go out and TRICK OR TREAT! Hudson was hysterical. He insisted on going by himself to the doors. Now remember we practiced all morning on what to do. So he walks up to the first house rings the doorbell (about 50 times) then says when they answer the door, "I need some candy." Like he was some sort of beggar. After a little more coaching he was like a trick or treat pro going from house to house. This was his first trick or treating experience because in FW we did church carnivals instead.

Most people in our neighborhood pull their lawn chairs to the front of their houses and give out candy. It was a great idea so we joined in. Hudson loved giving out the candy to all the 'kids' (as he called them). Harper helped out too! Hudson was spiderman and Harper was a bumble bee. They were so cute. Of course Hud wore his spiderman mask all day then when it came time to actually trick or treat he wanted nothing to do with that mask. So he was spider man from the neck down. I had fixed a big pot of taco soup and cornbread....so it was a perfect fall, Halloween evening.

Saturday morning we got up and were at the Alamo/Riverwalk by 10. We had a quick visit to the Alamo for a few pictures then we went to have lunch on the River. It was such a pretty morning and not too crowded. There were all these men putting up Christmas lights, so that got us excited to return again to see it all pretty for Christmas. After the kids took their afternoon naps we headed to the YMCA for Hud's soccer game. Those little kids are so cute and so fun to watch. Matt was asked to coach this team with another guy in the Spring. He is excited about that....I know Hudson will love it too. After the game Matt, my dad, and Hudson went out on a new grill hunt. Matt has been wanting a smoker for so long, and if you know my dad you know he is hands down the WORLDS greatest grilling machine. Not kidding. If you asked me if I wanted to go out or have my dad grill something, it would be a no brainer......he's that good! So a long story short, Matt was in the check out line buying this smoker that was going to be 200 bucks......well this guy tells Matt right before he pays that there is a new HEB Plus grand-opening and that they have the same grill for cheaper AND they give you a 100 dollar gift card. Sooo Matt got this new grill for 50 DOLLARS......yes, 50 DOLLARS. What a steal! After we got the grill put together, we had the BEST steak dinner. It was amazing and every bite was soooooooo yummy! We are so excited to cook out more!

This morning we all were up at 6.30 (7:30 yesterday's time to all of us) and went to the early service at church. It was excellent. At the end of the service they had us break up in small groups all over the auditorium and pray for the election on Tuesday. What I was reminded of is that no matter who you voted for and what the outcome is, that God is in control. He's not sweating Tuesday's outcome because he already knows the results. God's will will be done no matter who is our president. That is our hope and our comfort!

OF COURSE I have a MILLION pictures from the weekend! It was so much fun! I can't believe its November......23 days till my B-day in case ya'll were wondering!! :)

  8. I love reading your blog. It is so wonderful to read about happy families---and there is no doubt---that you are one of them. What a great neighborhood you live in!!! That is and will be such a blessing for you.

Amen to the election. God's will will be done. I am ready for it to be overwith. I am tired of all the negativity.

I Love your Happy Everything plate, too!!!!! Oh--and your kitchen looks beautiful.

And of course--the kids are beautiful. Harper has such beautiful eyes---big and brown---reminds me of Brenna when she was a baby. Hudson---reminds me of Matt when he was little. I know he will be quite a little soccer player with his daddy coaching him.

    Have a great week!
