Can you believe we have lived here in San Antonio for a year now? I can't believe how fast it went by. Matt and I were talking about it last night...what a year! It happened so fast from finding out that San Antonio was a possibility to actually living here. A blink of an eye. I'm thankful for that because I know it could have been really stressful if I would have had time to stop and think about it...especially with 2 and 1/2 year old and a baby.
We moved here with such excitement, but full of nerves too. We were leaving so many friends and a church we loved. We also were moving away from our family. Having BOTH families 2 hours from us was such a comfort, and spoiled us too. Moving here we knew NO ONE. I had no one to call to do ANYTHING. If an emergency came up, I knew my closest help was 5 hours away. It was very lonely and scary at the same time. Thankfully, San Antonio is such a FUN place to live because my way of coping was to stay busy doing fun things. We prayed so hard to find our 'fit' here. To find our place. It was a good time for us as a family because we were really all we had. It made us closer and stronger. We had to be bold and try new churches. We had to make ourselves GO an be the lonely visitor in the room. I have said it before, but I'll say it again. I CANNOT stand being a visitor. We sucked it up and were the visitor week after week at many churches. I was the visitor at different playgroups and classes. It's so much easier to stay home and not try, but the Lord blessed us, and week after week it got easier. I know our summer seemed crazy to a lot of you with all of our visitors. I believe it was God's way of keeping us busy...because really, this summer we did not have time to be lonely.
I can say now that we have found our place here in San Antonio. We have made some wonderful friends at church and I am so thankful. I love my Thursday ladies class at church. I always leave so excited to return. Our life-group....well, I have no words for them. I think joining this group was the turning point over this past year. We have so much fun with them and their friendship means so much.
When the opportunity presented itself for us to be transferred, I remember looking at the offer knowing we had to do it. With that pit in my stomach, we knew it was the right decision. Even with all the uncertainties, we knew that God had opened this door and we needed to go. Matt was concerned to come here and have to 'start from scratch' so to speak. A whole new set of business bankers that were all over San Antonio and surrounding cities that he had to get to know and train. I always overflow with such pride for Matt whenever I meet people that he works with. I never really know how hard he works because I never see 'banker Matt' in action...HA! (I have asked him time and again to give me a presentation and I'll pretend to be a business person....he's yet to do it for me. HA!). If you know Matt, then you know what I am talking about. He is the kindest person there ever was. He gives 100% of himself whether he is at work or at home. He never meets a stranger, and his heart is bigger than Texas. I say all of this just to brag for a moment on my man...while we were in Vancouver we found out that he received a very honorable award for his past year here in San Antonio. I am BEYOND proud of him. I am so thankful that he is my partner and that he had the faith to take this job here in San Antonio. I know one thing for sure, everyone he comes in contact with on a daily basis are better for knowing him! {we love you Matt, and we are so proud of you!!}
I have to admit that we moved here with the intentions of always moving back to the DFW area, but I'm not sure that you could ever get us to leave now. It has become our home, and we absolutely love it here.
And no blog post would be complete without 100 pictures, right? HA! Here are my favorite moments over this past year! It was fun looking back! What a fun year! We bought our Sea World season passes yesterday, so we are ready for more Sea World fun!

Loved your post, once again! :) And of course, the pics of your precious kids are wonderful! However, I particularly liked seeing the pics of your kitchen again. Ironically enough, I am on the computer right now, and am supposed to be looking at kitchen ideas because the cabinet man is coming over at 9am tomorrow! Ha! So, I loved to see your kitchen pic again! LOVE IT!! And think we are doing something similar so I am so excited! Okay...that's it! Bye! :)
