Happenings.....

I can't believe Saturday will be August 1st. This summer has been such a whirl-wind. I just love the feeling of summer. The heat does not bother me in the least. I really think if you just know your going to sweat then it really isn't that big of a deal. Hot is hot, and I love all the fun things to do to stay cool in this Texas heat. Here's a little recap in the happenings going on here @ the mullins household.

~Matt's parents (mini and papa) and cousins (kori and micah) came last week to visit us. We had a great time with everyone. The kids came last year in July and this year was just as fun. We hit up Sea World Wednesday and Thursday. It was really fun. Hudson turned into Mr. Bravery and sat front row at every show with his cousins and got soaked. It was so cute. He rode the Rio Loco with us too which was his first 'big boy' ride.

~Hudson and Harper had their yearly dr. visits on Friday. Hud came in at 41 1/4" (70%) and 36.6 lbs (56%). Up 4 lbs and 4 inches since last years check up. Long and lean since birth. He's stayed on that same yellow line on the growth chart. It really will be interesting to see how tall he'll end up because the dr. showed us that he's on the 6 ft + growth line. That is so hysterical to us for so many reasons, but we'll just have to wait and see. Miss Harper came in at 33 3/4" (42%) and 25 lbs (24%). She was up 1 3/4" and 2 3/4 lb since last year. Hudson got 4 shots and his eye and hearing test. All came back great. Both kids developmentally doing perfectly and are healthy. Always a blessing to hear those words. Hudson getting the shots was HORRIBLE. It took 3 of us to hold him down and he even burst blood vessels in his face from screaming so hard. It was pitiful, but no more shots until he's 11 (except for flu shots). Harper did not get her last HIB shot. We are waiting until the fall/winter to go back for that.

~Friday night Matt and I got to go on an early anniversary date. We went and saw The Ugly Truth (it's a dollar movie or renter at best) and then had dinner at 29...OH.MY was this place ever fantastic. Matt choose it because it's based on Highway 29 that runs thru the Napa Valley. So while we were enjoying ourselves Matt kept bringing up things from our trip 3 years ago to San Francisco. When we went he had work to do so one day I did an all day tour of Napa/Sanoma Valley. It was wonderful and I kept telling him how I want to go back and do it again with him. So anyways, during dinner he kept dropping hints about SF/Napa and I never caught on. He brought in this UPS mailing thing and told me I could not open it until dessert. I had NO idea what was inside, but after our oh so amazing dinner I opened it to find a picture of San Francisco. He surprised me and is taking me back 3 years later to go again. I am SOOO EXCITED! We are going in October 2 weeks after our Disney trip. He has to work 2 days of the trip, but arranged it for us to go 3 days early to play. We are going to do the Napa/Sanoma tour again which I can't wait! He also did not get to tour Alcatraz last time (one of my favorites), so we plan on doing that. It was a wonderful date and such an exciting ending to the date!!

~I took the kids out of their summer Mother's Day Out for the month of August. Hudson was still going 2 days and Harper just 1. I just wanted to have them home all month and just play. I decided totally last minute to do swim lessons for Hudson. He started today and did AMAZING!! I really wanted to do it earlier this summer but had no clue who to use or where to go. I was referred to this girl from a friend and she is amazing. My jaw was on the ground the entire time. I was in shock how she could get him to do this stuff. I really think he may be swimming after next weeks lessons! Our neighborhood pool does not close until Oct 1st, so I rationalized it by saying we still had 2 months left of summer. We hope to make our way to OK some time in August..we have not been since Thanksgiving. It's time!

~Lastly (and I almost forgot this little highlight of our summer)...since summer tv is never that good we decided that we would hop on the LOST bandwagon. Let me tell you we are HOOOOKED. It is soo good. We are in Season 2 and we can hardly wait to start the next episode. We watched 8 shows this past weekend. It has been fun watching it and becoming LOST addicts like a lot of you are!

Here are a few pics of the last week or so!

Papa, Mini, Kori, Micah, Hudson, and Harper

Sweet Kori and Harper.

Huddy got to meet a few pirates from the Sea World show 'Pirates Plunder'.

Right after getting totally soaked from Shamu. They had so much fun!

This is worth noting....Miss Harper has been sleeping in her baby bed turned toddler bed since her 2nd bday (5th). She has done great and is such a big girl now. Bubba has been so nice to share his pillow with her until we get her big girl pillow in. It was an easy and very smooth transition. Next on the list is potty training....hopefully by the first of the year (2 1/2) we'll be there.

  2. I am DREADING Jackson's 4 year old shots. I told Boone to tell me when he is on call, so I can schedule it for the day after, which he gets off. I don't want to go alone. I have a feeling I will want to buy him the entire contents of Toys r Us after they are over or at the very least reward him with Chuck E. Cheese.
