San Francisco!

Matt and I got home Thursday evening after spending 5 nights/6 days in San Francisco. We had a BLAST. We saw the entire city, and loved every minute doing so. We got there at 10 am on Saturday and did not stop until late Wednesday night. In true Allison fashion I have a million pictures to share along with the highlights of the week!

Right when we arrived we dropped our bags off and hit Fisherman's Wharf. We rented bicycles and rode along the coast to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was one of my favorite moments of our vacation. It was such a beautiful day and I LOVED riding across the bridge. We stopped for the many photo ops, and just took our time riding over in that part of town. What a memory!

The Blue Angels were in SF for the weekend, and I snapped this picture while we were on the bridge.
On Sunday we took a full day tour of Sanoma/Napa Valley. I did this 3 years ago by myself while Matt worked, and it was so much more fun sharing it with him. Something is so magical and romantic about the wine country. I loved having my man with me while we saw some of the most beautiful parts of this wonderful country we live it. We visited 3 wineries. One was a mom and pop type place where the winery really had been passed down from generation to generation and the same family is still running it. It was a neat experience. The 2nd was at one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and a more 'high end' selection of wine. The last winery we saw was the more commercialized Sutter Home. All 3 were very different, very beautiful, and equally interesting. The guy leading the tour knew his stuff about San Francisco as well as Napa/Sanoma, so it was a very educational experience as a whole. We had the best day!

My souvenir from the week.

The BEST.LUNCH.EVER!!! Matt and I shared this @ one of the wineries. It was so fresh and sooooo amazing. It was from the mozzarella bar. Crusty bread, an entire head of roasted garlic, mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, roasted peppers, basil, and 50 year old organic balsamic vinegar...TO DIE FOR!

We spent the rest of the week in the city hitting all the hot spots. We road the famous San Francisco cable car, saw Lombard Street, shopped Union Square, Little Italy, China Town, walked Fisherman's Wharf and ate many delicious seafood meals there, Ghirardelli Sqare, hippy town USA aka Haight and Ashbury, and shopped and ate in Pacific Heights (thanks for the recommendation Crystal), and of course we went to Alkatraz!

China Town

Delicious coffee in Little Italy. One of the best spots we found!
We spent one day going to Alcatraz. It was a highlight! It is so fascinating. I did it 3 years ago while Matt worked, so I was so excited for him to go with me. He loved it. The tour is actually an award winning audio tour. Actual Alcatraz inmates and prison guards are the ones speaking to you giving you the tour. They tell you where to walk and what happened there...etc. It is so creepy, but a great experience!! We are ready to rent Escape from Alcatraz!!

The view of the city from 'the rock'.

The creepy mask the guys who escaped made.

On the ferry riding the 1.25 mile ride to Alcatraz.

Making the forever hike up to the prison.

Matt in the recreation area outside.

Hippy Town...
The final 2 days we were there Matt had to work, so I spent all day Tuesday vegging out in the hotel because it was RECORD BREAKING rainfall in San Francisco. I spent the day watching movies, napping, and reading a good book....I went down stairs and got some Starbucks and oatmeal, put the do not disturb sign on the door, and became a hermit for the day. It was wonderful! Luckily when Matt was finished at 5 so was the rain and we went out! Wednesday I spent the morning shopping Union Square until Matt was finished at 3. We packed the rest of the day hitting up the spots we missed or wanted to revisit one last time.
We had a fantastic time. I love love LOVE getting away with Matt. He is my favorite travel buddy. We always have the best time away together. I love being able to focus 100% of our attention on each other with no little interruptions from the special little luvs in our life. It renews me as a mommy because I come back missing them like crazy and so ready to be with them again.
I am SO thankful for Curtis, Karen, April,Reese, and Kyleigh, coming here to have some fun with Hudson and Harper. Without them we would not have been able to go, so we are forever thankful for them coming here to SA for the week. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! We had so much fun and did not worry one minute about the kids back at home. We knew they were in great hands!!
The kids enjoyed a San Antonio vacation while we were away. They had fun with their grandparents and cousins visiting Sea World, the SA Zoo, the Riverwalk twice, The Rainforest cafe', the Children's Museum, Chuck E. Cheese, and many more fun places. They had a blast and did not even have time to miss us.
We have had fun on all of our adventures the last few weeks, but it is good to be home! We are home until Thanksgiving!!!!
