Now on to last week... It was COWBOY WEEK at Huddy's preschool and it was ADORABLE!! That sweet boy almost lost sleep over this occasion. He loved it. He got to dress up both Wednesday and Friday in his DUDS and what a treat it was. Wednesday he had a full out cowboy lunch at school with pig snouts (pigs in the blankets), cowboy beans, biscuits, & cowboy coffee (chocolate milk)...AKA HEAVEN for Hudman. They also had a REAL cowboy come talk to the kids. Hud was impressed and as of today this is new career choice.
Wednesday I was at Walmart doing some last minute Valentines shopping and found Hud a "REAL" cowboy shirt complete with pearl snaps. The child was THRILLED. I may have done a happy dance too. We snagged it up and he was decked out again for Friday. The rodeo was here in SA this week which overlapped with Valentines. Ok with our Hud tho.
I helped out with the Valentine's breakfast for Hud's class on Friday. So Harp and I joined in on all the fun. It's always so cute seeing them in action. Harper LOOOVES going to Hud's school and can hardly wait until she can go. I signed the kids up for the fall on Wednesday and sweet Harper thought Wednesday was the lucky day she got to start school. I guess I did not communicate that one too well with her. Let's just say we had tears on Wednesday. The party was a success and it is times like that I sure miss teaching.
Harper and I had to go back a little early and watch Hudson in his 'motor skills' class do a little jig to a western song. So funny. Again, Miss Priss was DYING to join in on all the fun. After the little dance and song they preformed their warm-up to the Star Wars song. Hud loved it and Harper preformed like she knew exactly what to do. It was a fun, and busy Friday!!!
The HIGHLIGHT on Friday was that night. The sweet ladies and their husbands at mentoring moms from church volunteered to keep our kids from 5:30-9 FOR FREE at the church building. So all of us in our life group went to dinner KID FREE. It was WONDERFUL and such a treat. We have never all gone out before (kid free) because there are 12 of us and 14 kids, so chances of all of us finding a babysitter are slim to none. We had a blast, and they are the funnest group you could ever know. How often do you meet a group of people that you genuinely love ALL of the women and ALL of their husbands???? They are all amazing...what a blessing they have been to us since moving here to San Antonio.
The rest of the weekend I spent with my precious Valentines. Matt fixed pink heart shaped pancakes for our Valentine's breakfast. The kids loved it. Last night I had a pink and red themed oh so romantic dinner. I found some adorable heart shaped raviolis at Costco which inspired our dinner. I made a pink sauce (Alfredo mixed with tomato sauce) and a strawberry cake with pink icing for dessert. And of course it was not complete without the red cool aide. It was a very romantic candlelit dinner for 4. I even found heart shaped plates at Target. It was a sweet, sweet Valentines with my 3 loves. I loved making it special for the kids.
Before Matt and I married I kept a secret journal to Matt for an entire year up until the day we married. I pulled it out last night to see what we did on Valentine's day our senior year at ACU. Here is an excerpt of the closing that I wrote to Matt February 16th, 2003 after our Valentine's weekend,
"Our Valentines weekend was so great, fun, and romantic. I am just so in love with you. I love our special dates, and being alone with you. You are my all-time favorite person and best friend. You give me hundreds of Valentines Days all of the time. Thank you for filling my life with so much love and happiness. I love you more than anything. Love, your Alli"
