My Mother's Day Weekend...

It was the best, sweetest weekend with my family. I loved being home with my 3 most favorite people in the world. Friday I went up to Hudson's school for the mother's day tea. It was just so sweet! Hudson was so excited for me to come up there, and he has been telling me for days that he had something special for me that "I was going to LOVE." I enjoyed every bit of being with my little man. He made me the sweetest little kitchen towel with his hand on it. He was right, I did love it.
Saturday we spent the day downtown. We had lunch on the newer part of the river walk and tried out a new Mexican restaurant. Then we headed to the Magik Theatre for the play "How I became a Pirate." This is one of Hudson's favorite books of all time, so he was one excited little boy when we saw this. We really enjoyed ourselves, and can't wait to go back this summer for "Pinkalicious"!!

We heard a wonderful mother's day sermon, and had the best church service...One you leave convicted and inspired all at the same time. Sunday I woke up to Starbucks, flowers, and cards. I wish I could have filmed Harper giving me the flowers. She ran to me with them straight out in front of her like a sword. They were so excited to give me my gifts. All day long Hudson (and Matt) would tell me "Happy Mother's Day", and Harper kept telling me, "Happy Birthday Mommy". I loved it.
I tell you what, as fun as it is getting spoiled and loved on by my 3 loves, I can't leave without acknowledging my better half. His love, support, encouragement, & grace is what keeps me sane on those 'wild' days. The days when I think to myself, "I did not sign up for tee tee all over the floor, and kids who eat their boogers", he can get home and I can breathe a little easier. He is my number 1 fan (and I am his). I appreciate his willingness to let me get away for a weekend with girlfriends, or have my Monday night out with my mentoring moms crew. He never complains or gripes. He has never said an unkind word to me when he comes home to a wife who just did not make it to the shower that day, 2 wild and dirty kids, dishes in the sink, and laundry to be folded. When I apologize for the wreck he came home too, he gives me that same hug and kiss that I get everyday and tells me it looks like we had a fun day.  Seeing how wonderful of a Daddy he is to our kids inspires me to be the best Mommy possible.

While being the mommy to Hudson and Harper is truly the joy of my heart, I would not be half the mommy I am without my guy by my side. He is worth celebrating on Mother's day too!! I love that he is the daddy that lets his little girl put princess stickers all over his face, and the daddy who turns into a Jedi right when he walks in the door. I have to say that being a mother is by far the greatest, most difficult, most rewarding job there ever was. And while our 'wild-and-crazy-make-you-want-to-rip-your-hair-out" days are few and far between, I would not trade it for the world....

  2. Oh, your kiddos are so precious. Love all of the pictures. And it sounds like you had a great, and very deserving, Mother's Day! So glad! I think you need to put the picture of your new kitchen towel on the blog. :) That is precious. And by the way, can't wait to hear how Pinkalicious goes; JK has that a couple of those books already! :)
