| Before the madness of opening gifts....Can you tell how excited they are??? |
We had a wonderful weekend. Matt's side of the family came to celebrate Christmas with us. Karen and Curtis (Mini and Papa) came late Wednesday night, Melissa, Brandon, and Grandaddy Bill came on Thursday night, and Lauren and Tyson came on Friday night. We had a house full along with 3 dogs. We enjoyed everyone so much and the kids had a blast.
Thursday the kids spent the entire day playing in San Antonio with Mini and Papa. They had a great day. Matt and I enjoyed a date alone on Thursday night which is always special. Friday we went to Gruene which was WONDERFUL! What is not to love about Gruene, Texas this time of year?? It was decorated so festive for Christmas, and the Gristmill was delicious.
Saturday was Christmas #1. We enjoyed our yummy breakfast of Star Wars pancakes and then had so much fun opening up the sea of presents. Hudson and Harper were SO EXCITED. I can still remember the anticipation as a child of wanting everyone to hurry up so we could open up gifts.
The kids got some great things. Lincoln Logs for Hud, Legos for Harp, and a Wii for the family. Hudson got plenty of Star Wars items...from actual figures, star wars Legos, and a Star Wars Lego Wii game....He's loving life. Harper got new dinosaurs, Cinderella carriage with figures, & a princess Wii game. It was a great first Christmas for everyone! We had the BEST Christmas lunch (think Thanksgiving), and it was delicious. Since we did not have a traditional Thanksgiving feast, we especially enjoyed the turkey and dressing. I barely had to lift a finger either which made it that much better!! :)
It was extra special having Grandaddy here for the weekend. It was his first visit to our house here in SA, so we were thrilled to have him. His health over the last 7-8 months has not been too great, sadly. It is now time in his life to begin a new chapter. He'll be moving to Norman, OK to be near Karen and Curtis and will be living in a nursing home. As difficult this transition is for him, we are hopeful the future is bright for him.
We are excited for the upcoming weekends here. Lots more family fun to come!!!
How fun!!
