My little man is a week old today. Oh my goodness Matt and I are sentimental nuts. We know we'll blink and those newborn squeaks, grunts, and newborn look will be gone. We are soaking this little boy UP! He is THE MOST PRECIOUS baby (do the larger letters show how I'm not kidding? HA!). I'm not kidding, I tear up all the time because he is just the sweetest thing. I am so thankful and so blessed, and I have no idea how I ever lived so long without him.
We really enjoyed having my mom, Suzanna, and Camden here for a few days. My mom cooked her booty off and cleaned like she's never cleaned before. My laundry was washed and folded at all times. It was so nice. After my mom left we were eating leftovers and Hudson said, "J is the bestest cook there ever was." We were all spoiled by her Paula Deen yumminess. I am so appreciative of her help....I could tell she has been the caretaker mode for John for months now because she was in 'full' caretaker role while she was here. I look forward to their visit again when she can just veg out.
Yesterday was my 'first day on the job'. It went well. Mom of 3...we just dove right on in. I think when I had Hudson my mom stayed with me 10 days and I bawled my eyes out when she left. I am unusually calm (100% sleep deprived tho), but enjoying my time with all 3 kids. It's amazing how after each child you can survive on less sleep.
So far my experience of going from 2 to 3 kids has been easier than 1 to 2. I can remember after we had Harper I sat in the entry way of our house playing cars with Hudson, and I just cried while I played with him because I felt like I had been so consumed with Harper that I was neglecting him. For 2 years I was 100% his at all times, and then when Harper joined us my attention was divided. It literally broke my heart. Of course we found a balance, and Matt filled in where I couldn't, but after Harper I had so much guilt (that I put on myself). Hudson and Harper are doing great with Holton. They really are so sweet with him.
Holton is currently on an every 2 hour feeding. He nurses like a champ, but it does make for a loooong night. This is the first time we have kept a baby in our room. With Huddy we were in an apartment, and with Harper her room was right next to ours. This is our first time with stairs, so it only makes sense to keep him with us. I refuse to climb those stairs 80 times in a night. I have a little bassinet that my sister let me borrow that we keep by our bed. Matt could sleep through a freight train, so he isn't bothered in the least. It has been a learning curve for me having a baby in our room. Hopefully it'll be just for a couple of months. So far so good...
I guess that's all. Kids are at school today, so it's been nice just having the time to sit and stare at Holton. I hope to keep up my weekly posts on my blog. I don't want to miss documenting the little sweet moments and pictures that are happening all the time. Matt's family haven't met Holton (mini was our only Mullins representitive last week), so we are looking forward to their visit next week some time.
Here's pictures from the last week.

ReplyDeleteHappy one week birthday to Holton! We are all so blessed to have another precious, healthy baby. I am so glad that you are doing so well. I know it feels good not to have to worry about blood pressure issues and just focus on all your sweet babies. I am so glad your mother was able to be there to help you out. It sounds like she did a jam up job and I know you are grateful. We look forward to seeing all of you again real soon. Keep those sweet pictures coming. Love you! Grammy
