My stud of a hub, total rock star man ROCKED it yet again at the Rock and Roll Marathon yesterday here in San Antonio. He ran the 1/2 marathon again this year in 1 hour and 45 minutes & some odd seconds. He was SECONDS from his exact time as last year. SECONDS. The man is so fast.
The kids and I left the house bright and early yesterday to cheer our favorite daddy on. I have to admit I was a nervous wreck doing this. Taking the 3 of them on my own in the craziness of the crowds that these races attract---well I was not looking forward to it. We left the house at 6:15, I grabbed McDonald's for Hudson and Harper & coffee for mama & off we went for downtown. The kids were UN-BELIEVABLE. Hudson and Harper took turns in the stroller (we walked a TON). Huddy walked the majority of it and neither one complained a bit. We also sat and waited on Matt for an hour, and again--they were fantastic. We had a great time cheering on the runners, and especially had fun cheering on our favorite runner. Matt did fantastic. His big goal was to do as good as he did last year if not beat his time. I think he did wonderful! We were so proud!

When the race was over, Harper was so cute---she saw that Matt had a medal. She thought he was the winner of the race and was SO EXCITED. As we were leaving she saw another guy with a medal on and tells Matt that he must have tied with him. Hudson and Harper the entire time we were waiting on Matt kept saying, "I hope dad wins the race."... it was pretty cute.
| This was probably Hudson's favorite part of the morning---running up and down under the 281 underpass as we walked back to our car. |
It was such a fun morning yesterday. It is always so inspiring seeing the people run and work so hard during the marathon. Especially the special needs people. It sure makes you think you can do anything when you see those with handicaps doing the marathon--WOW. Talk about inspiration. I had several friends ROCK it yesterday too. SO PROUD OF Y'ALL!!! It was an awesome day, and I am so glad that my kids got to see their daddy accomplish a goal that he works so hard on. Matt, we love love love LOVE you & we are always your BIGGEST FANS!! WAY TO GO!

I am so proud of Matthew! What a man!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post...love the homemade signs and can't believe you took the three all by yourself! I know Matt was a happy man to see all of you! I'm so proud of him, too! Love, Karen
ReplyDeleteI love that he has so much support from his sweet wife and his precious kids! And I would have felt the same as you, out in the crowds with all those people, and so early (I am a homebody though!) but glad they were troopers!
