My baby girl turned 5 on July 5th. What a BIG day we had. It was a day all about Harper and making her feel loved and extra special. I think we delivered. :) It was a great day.
Hudson had day camp at T BAR M in New Braunfels all week long (a whole post on his awesome week coming later), so it was just the 4 of us celebrating Harper's birthday. Matt took off from work Wed-Friday which was wonderful. We had such a great time having him home. Thursday morning Harper, Bethany (harp's best friend), Holton and Matt started the morning at Krispy Kreme for birthday doughnuts. (I had a drs apt Thursday am).
Sadly after breakfast Bethany started feeling sick so she did not get to spend the day with us like we originally planned. Despite Harper's disappointment, I think we made up for it throughout the day.
Once I got home from the dr we loaded up the troops and made our first stop at James Avery. 4 years ago when we got Harper's ears pierced I said that when she turned 5 I'd take her to pick out her very first earrings. (That came a lot sooner than I thought it would). So for the very first time in 4 years I took out her sweet itty bitty baby studs. Harper shopped and shopped looking at everything and knew what she wanted when she saw it. She picked out the sweetest little flower studs and a dolphin necklace. She loves it and is so proud of her new big girl jewelry.
Harper had some birthday money and a gift card from her grandparents that were burning a HUGE hole in her pocket so our next stop was Toys R Us where she roamed the aisles again and again....and again. We don't go to toy stores often so she was in TOY HEAVEN & quite overwhelmed! We shopped until we dropped. She picked out a puppy dog that had a broken leg that she needs to care for. (It yelps until the cast is put on and it barks when you give it a shot in the booty). She loves it. She also chose a big set of new Littlest Petshops. Harp was a happy girl. Next stop was Chuys!
My little twinks. |
We inhaled some good Mexican food because we were all starrrrving. (It was well after 1:00 by now). Next stop....The SNAKE FARM ZOO.
If you have come to San Antonio on I35, you have passed this Snake Farm Zoo. The kids have always wanted to go. We have friends who have taken their kids and said it was really fun. We figured since we had to pick up Hud in New Braunfels after his camp day was over, that this was a great opportunity to take our animal lover. She was thrilled to go. I have to say this is NOT my scene at all. I do not like snakes or insects or rodents. I can't stand lizards. I don't like petting zoos. Dirty animals gross me out. Harper's mad love for all living creatures did not come from me (or her daddy either). She is one of a kind that girl. There were parts of this zoo that Holton and I just stayed behind while Matt took Harp...can you say STINKY?? Needless to say I was not a fan of this snake zoo, but my Harper girl was, and I love nothing more than seeing her happy...and I would go again for her. She really had a good time and loved seeing all of the different animals, feeding them, and petting the ones she could. Holty was super cute and just pointed and squealed with each animal. He's such a good baby.
Once we finished the zoo we went to pick up the boys from another great day of camp (we carpooled with friends) and then head home for our last bit of celebrating our 5 year old.
Harper got an awesome new big girl bike with a bell (what she wanted) and a new cat helmet from mini and papa. She is quite proud of this.
Our big present to Hudson and Harper from us was a new trampoline. They have had so much fun out there on it. We gave it to them on the 4th, so technically it was an early birthday present to the both of them. They love jumping with the sprinkler going underneath. It was a fun, good buy!
