- First off a tad of a recap: We have been on the hunt for a house actively searching since the end of February, early March. We knew we wanted to stay in our current area of San Antonio because of it's central location and great schools. I knew the type of floor plan I wanted for the kids and there were many things were nonnegotiable must haves for our next home. Matt and I have prayed so hard for this next chapter for our family and really had a peace of 'we'll know it when we see it.' After last year's 'trial run' selling/searching for a house, we decided that we would go about things a little backwards---put a contract on a house first, then hopefully sell ours fast.
- Every morning a little after 6 for a year now, I get an e-mail from our realtor with the houses that went up on the market that day. Every morning before I get out of bed I would check the houses. 9 times out of 10 I would click the 'uninterested' box and move on. Since March we have probably looked at 10 houses---driven by countless, but it was never 'it'.
- Friday morning I was checking my e-mail and I saw this one and it was the first time that I had that sense of urgency of we need to see this house ASAP. I called our realtor and we were in the books to see it at 3:00.
- Matt has been swamped at work and he could not get away, so I went on my own to see the house. One of my girlfriends offered to let my kids play while I went and looked. I knew instantly that this house was the one. I called Matt and he put in an offer WITHOUT even driving by it. Here is one thing about us---he and I are pretty in sync on most everything. We have the same taste and love most of the same things. We had looked at houses long enough that he knew if it had my stamp of approval then it was the one for him. (What a guy, right?) We drove by the house after our offer was in and he was so excited and loved it. I knew he would, but was still relieved.
- Saturday Matt was able to go see the house (our offer had not been accepted yet). After seeing it a second time with him, I loved it even more and so did Matt. We let the kids see it too and they were so excited and fell in love with it too.
- We worked our booties off all weekend long getting our house organized to be listed Tuesday morning. Yard, organizing closets, PLAYROOM (oh my that was a JOB), kitchen cabinets and drawers---you get the picture. I wanted our house to look picture perfect.
- Sunday morning we went to church, had an early lunch, then headed to Costco. Our realtor called while we were in the Costco parking lot to say we got the house--offer accepted. We all hug in the middle of Costco. We were so excited---especially we had been waiting since Friday to hear back---we were emotionally involved by this point.
- Monday I finished getting the house ready, Tuesday morning the sign is in the yard and we are officially listed on the market.
- Tuesday morning my phone starts blowing up about 8:30 for showings. We had 5 showings scheduled for day 1. I was gone ALL day it felt like. We went to Sams, to Sonic, to the park, to our neighbor's house to play, watched movies in the car---it was a beating of a day. I had the biggest headache and was so tired....and we all wanted to go home. We did not get home until 8:00 that evening. The kids did awesome. Little complaining and just went with it.
- Tuesday evening we had 2 offers with a 3rd coming in on Wednesday morning.
- There became a bidding war on our house---can you believe that?? So everyone had until 6:00 last night to give their best offer. We made a decision last night, papers signed today, and we are now under contract.
- I still cannot believe how all of this came together. We close on both houses after school is out in June. (in fact I think it's the last day of school that we close). We have prayed for the family that is buying our house and believe that it was meant just for them. We have loved every minute of our 5+ years here. This house has been so good to us. We have been so blessed and have the sweetest memories here. To think that we came here with a 2 year old and 7 month old and now we are doubled...Looking at our new house seeing Holton run around and be SO-STINKING-CUTE (as in you want to tell the realtor to be quiet because you don't want to miss his excitement--it was that cute) reminds us of Hudson when we moved here and how cute he was...and then seeing Hayes in his carrier just hanging out like Harper did when we found this house. It's amazing how much our lives changed over the last 5 years. My prayer all along was that someone would come in our home and fall in love with it on day 1 just like we did. We snagged this one up on day 1 too.
So there you have it---the run down of the last 6 days. It's been wild and stressful---but a good stress. Managing all this with 4 monkeys is no joke. There is no doubt in our mind that God had his hands all over these last few days. We give him all the glory for the finding of our new house and for selling ours. We are so excited for this new family to come live here on what we think is the best street and neighbors in this neighborhood, and we are beyond thrilled about our new house that we pray we call home for a very long time.
Yay! What a God thing!! Congratulations!!!
