Thursday night was our meet the teacher. I have a big 2nd grader and Kindergartner now. Here I go saying it again, but I really cannot believe it. When I look at them it feels like it was yesterday that they were my only 2 babies. Moving here to San Antonio Hudson was my 2 year old and Harper my baby girl. It was just the 4 of us for several years. They have grown into 2 of the greatest kids on the planet. So kind and sweet. Such great big siblings to their little brothers. My heart could just burst over the love and pride I have for the 2 of them.
Hudson and Harper both made things for their teachers. It really was the sweetest thing, and as a teacher myself, I can only imagine what it meant to their teachers receiving this. I love how Harper wrote on hers "I love you" to her teacher and she had not even met her yet. Hudson wrote his teacher the sweetest note. He told us that he wanted her to 'know him'. While he was too shy to give it to her on the night of meet the teacher, he did sneak over to her desk and leave it for her. I know she loved it.
I love these 2 pictures above. They both looked so precious to me. So ready for this next school year. Taking their pictures was the only time I teared up. We were outside so I had my sunglasses on, but that lump in my throat just couldn't fight those tears any longer. The kids never saw I was getting all misty on them, but taking their pictures and seeing how big they looked was almost too much! Thankfully at meet the teacher we were so busy going from room to room and messing with the little boys and filling out paperwork that there was no time for tears.
We are at a new school this year, so we all have a little bit of extra butterflies. I feel so good about this school because it is just as great and wonderful as the one we left, but it is older and smaller which I really think is a blessing. The school we left was very big, so smaller is good in my eyes.
We could not be more excited about Hudson and Harper's teachers. We have prayed all summer long for them, so we have such a peace that they are in the exact class with the exact teacher that God planned all along for them. Their teachers seem to be so kind, fun, bubbly, and excited about the upcoming school year. We already feel so blessed to know them and are excited to see all the growth and learning that is to come this year. Ready or not alarm clock days and routine starts TOMORROW!
The best part of our meet the teacher evening was that UNK and Lex came for dinner. It is always like Santa made his grand appearence early. My kids are so crazy about their Unk. He is so fun and so great with the kids. It just nothing but laughter (and lots of noise) when he comes. They are WIRED and WILD when he is here. It's like they are playing the game 'who can show off and get his attention better.' It is always so great having them here. We love it and love seeing them.
I'm teary eyed just reading about their "meet the teacher night"! I'm so thankful that they are excited about their new school and teachers. I know they will have a great year. I know they will "shine bright".
