It was so good driving back to Abilene. We got there at 5 on Friday and there was NO traffic while we were on the loop. Matt turned around to Hud and said, "Hudson, this is what you call easy livin." 5:00 on a Friday and no traffic...what a beautiful thing. It was great being there because ALL of my family on my moms side was there. My cousin Valerie was on the Homecoming court, so we were all so proud to watch her. She also just got engaged a few days earlier, so it was her week to shine! My sister is a FRESHMAN at ACU, so it was sooo fun seeing her just beginning her time there. Her dorm room was so cute. I'd relive college all again in a minute. Later Fri. night we took the kids to the carnival. It was so fun and they had a blast. I saw a few familiar faces which was always a highlight.
Saturday we went to the parade. It was excellent. One of the best ones yet. Each float was so cute. Hudson and Harper loved watching all the excitement. THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT of the weekend was that WE FORGOT the camera and did not get A SINGLE picture of Saturday morning. BUT I sure did remember the camera case tho! All my family was gathered around, old friends were there, and my kids looked soooo cute......AND NOT A PIC to show for it. After the parade we went to chapel. It was so good. I love Homecoming chapel. Always have. The kids were surprisingly good during it too. Afterwards we grabbed a quick lunch and headed to the football game. It was really fun. Hudson and Harper loved it. They played on the bleachers and ran around. The 4 of us were decked out in our wildcat shirts....gotta support our team! We had such a great time at the football game. ACU won and are doing sooo good. I think they are ranked #2. We left during the 2nd half and took the kids back to the hotel for a quick nap. Matt and I got ready for our BIG 5 YR REUNION dinner and what a BUST it was. It was sooo sad. No one went. Our table ended up being fun. Luckily we had the Thomas' and the Webb's there. I just remember people from last years reunion saying "don't miss the dinner" you'll see everyone. Ummmm not with class of '03! So a few of us left the dinner early and went to this new (or new to us) coffee shop. It was just good being out by ourselves with no babies and having grown up conversations.
So the weekend was fun. I always love going back to Abilene. It was fun being with family and seeing a few familiar faces. Good catching up! So now we are home until Thanksgiving. Daddy Pops and Grammy are coming this weekend. We are really excited for them to come. We are excited about Halloween. Our neighborhood has a parade for all the kids Friday night. I know I'll have millions of pictures from our week to share next time.
So here is our Homecoming weekend in pictures!
Having a nap on the way!
Just toooooo sweet!
Glad you had a great time, but sorry that so many from the '03 class skipped out! Those pictures of you guys are precious! You, my dear, are also a stud of a wife!!
