Flower beds: Before and After

Ever since we bought this house a year ago we knew we wanted to spruce it up a bit in the front. Matt and I are trying to grow a pair of green thumbs....slowly but surely! However, we don't know plants and do not have a clue on where certain types of plants should go. So we hired people to come and do it for us! It's a sweet couple who go to church with us and were referred to us by friends in our life group. I wanted 99% perennials to be put in because I do not want to have to do this year after year. I also said that I wanted plants that were hard to kill (HA!) and plants that can handle this San Antonio summer heat. I am hoping that this spurs us along and we get a little braver to do things on our own. Next Spring we are going to attempt to do the backyard by ourselves. We'll see how that goes!

I'm hesitant to share the pictures now because everything was planted today. Everything is supposed to get full and lush and just beautiful! I am so excited about this! I can't wait for it to be colorful! You will see in the before and after pics how desperately we needed this done. I wish I would have taken pics before even the before pictures were taken. Matt had already cleared out most of everything that was planted. I'll have to share more pictures once things start taking off growing!!

We HATED these bricks that surrounded the flower beds,

She said these plant will just 'take off' and get really full.

We had this flower bed expanded some. I love all the rocks and the dark mulch. I can't wait to see how it looks in a few months when everything gets growing!

Before
After...

And I had to throw in a picture of the kids having some spring time fun!

The perennials are the best thing ever! I couldn't believe how big they were this year when the grew back after their winter under the ground! Amazing! :)
