Happy Fiesta Mi Amigos!!

It's Fiesta week here in San Antonio. When we moved here 2 years ago, we had NO CLUE what on earth Fiesta was. Click here to read what it is. It's so huge that the city is so geared to celebrating it, & a lot of places shut down for the Fiesta celebration. It's a BIG deal. Most businesses and all schools are off on Friday b/c of it. Crazy!! It is a big money making event(s) that is 10 days long, and so many tourists come for it.

After living here we have finally learned to embrace the culture and the celebration. It really is a lot of fun. Monday night they have a parade on the riverwalk where the floats are the riverboats. Someday we'll go! It sounds like so much fun!!

Today at Hudson's preschool they had a Fiesta party. It was so much fun, and I was one of the mom volunteers for Hudson's class. We had the Cascarones or confetti egg room. It was really a lot of fun!! Each child had to make their very own float for the parade this morning. It was too too stinkin' cute!! Each class took a turn walking the upper level of the church and it was set to Mexican type music. I loved it! Matt actually got to be there today, which was HUGE for Hudson. The child thinks his daddy hung the moon....we all do! This morning we got up real early so we could have breakfast somewhere together before the Fiesta. It was really fun a special morning.

I spent the entire school day doing the Cascarones for each class. There were like 8 different booths. Hudson got to make a maraca, homemade tortillas, bust a pinata, eat homemade Mexican food, dance to Mexican music...and so many more things. It was a FULL day!!

Sweet Harper spent her morning hanging out with me in the egg room. She actually was sooo good, and ended up having a lot of fun. While she and I were eating our lunch together she told me, "Mommy, this sure is a great day!" Love that little girl!! She made plenty of eggs and enjoyed busting them on kid's heads. She cannot wait for school in the Fall. She was itching to go with each class that came in. (slow down growing up little girl!!)!!

Here are some cute pictures from the day. It was really fun. We all 3 came home exhausted. We are going to dinner at friend's house for dinner tonight, so I know we'll have 2 really sleepy kiddos by the end of this fun day.

This was this morning at breakfast. Sooo CUTE!!!

Hud waiting patiently for the parade. That is his float that was 100% him. We just helped with the tape. It's dragon world, star wars, and gi joes.
These sweet little girls are the best of friends. Kate, Karli, Harper, and Bethany. They are all within 4 months of each other.

Our sweet little friends Jackson and Ella Bella.
Ella and her puppy dog float. (I am sure this will be Harper next year. Either animals or "dia-sore" as she calls them).
Hud's good buddy Cager!
And there's Ms. Elizabeth (all of these friends are life group kids of ours).
And 'Thomas my man' and his Star Wars Lego float.
The Marvelous Monkey Class
My lil' man

My pride and joy...
Hud's class with the eggs. Of course he wanted to break it on his sister's head.
What did Harper do all day??? Line up the animals of course!
She also made her fair share of eggs. Such a hard worker and little thinker she is.
She was a perfect angel and good helper today. I enjoyed my lil' side kick all morning long.

  1. What a fun, and sweet, post! Your kids are adorable. I love Harper's dress, btw! That happened to be my easter outfit this year, too! And was so sad I couldn't get Miss JK the matching dress in her size. They started at 12M. :( Bummer. Well, next year, right? :) Hope yall are great! Summer is almost here! WOOHOO!
