- Pulled out all of Hudson's baby clothes, sorted, washed, and put away. (that was a JOB). Oh how it took me back to when Hudson was a baby. I could picture that sweet baby boy in those little outfits. It'll be fun to see Holton in Hud's clothes.
- Found all the baby stuff in the attic we needed for Holton and got it all cleaned up and ready for him..
- We bought a new car seat cover for our 5 year old carseat (he deserves that right?), and have it all ready to be put in the car.
- We cleaned out Holton's closet that still had baby Harper's things in it.
- Cleaned out, bought new shelves, and organized the garage...and THREW STUFF AWAY! (why do we hang on to junk???) This was on Matt's to-do list....and it was a good thing to get done.
- Matt totally surprised me out of the blue last week and took me to pick out a pair of these bad boys (pictured below). Talk about a fun day! I have to say that they have CHANGED MY LIFE. NOT exaggerating. Our old set was left behind when we moved into this house. It took me 2 sometimes 3 times to dry a load of towels. I hated laundry because it took FOREVER to do a load. I am currently ONE HAPPY mama that is caught up on her laundry.
- We sold our old washer and dryer set within 30 minutes of them on Craigslist. (that was great)!
- Organized the laundry room...I want to buy baskets for my now EMPTY shelf above them.
- Cleaned out and organized our downstairs hall closet. Oh it looks so good! You can actually SEE my vacuum cleaner when you open the door.
- We put up our Christmas stuff the day after Christmas (just because we thought Holton may come early). I LOVED IT! We always wait until after New Years. I don't think I will ever do that again. It was SO NICE having it all put away, & have a clean and organized house to enjoy the remainder of the week. We would drive by people's houses that still had their stuff up and I would think to myself how glad I was that ours was already nicely put away & did not have that to-do hanging over my head. It also was so great to not have to do it right before Matt went back to work. I use to think people who put their stuff up before New Years were kind of sad, but not anymore! I have joined your club.
- We cleaned out the attic that was FULL of baby/little kid stuff that we no longer needed (and just plain junk) & donated every bit of it. (WOW that was a good feeling). (really Matt was the one who pulled out tons of stuff and I gave the 'Yes' or 'No').
- Matt rented a carpet cleaner from Lowes and cleaned our carpet. They look as good as new. We have been wanting to do this for a while and always seem to find an excuse not to. What a great feeling to have clean carpet.
- We are almost finished with Holton's nursery. It has been fun doing a baby boy's room again.
As you can see it was a very productive 2 weeks. It feels great to get things done like that. I say "we" did all of that stuff, but it was mainly Matt doing the work. I did sit, sort, and point...but he gets the award for best nester. :) I still have a few more things on my 'to do' list, but really I am feeling good and ready. (I do have to add that it was mutual nesting going on. Matt is a work horse and knows how to get things done).
Today Matt went back to work. I was sitting in bed with Harper when I caught a glimpse of Matt in his work clothes in the bathroom, and I immediately burst into tears. Seriously HORMONAL! It was hard sending him off this morning. I loved every minute of having Matt home with us. It was the first time we truly 'vegged' out over the holidays and had no plans. Matt said he felt so relaxed and rested. He deserved that break. Often after his 2 weeks off we feel like we need a vacation. Not this time!
Huddy went back to preschool today too. I had to wake the poor thing up this morning. He could have used another pj day before going back to school. I personally feel that a full first week back to school is a BAD idea for both teachers and students. You gotta ease yourself back into routine. Harper today had her little bestie, Bethany, come over to play this morning. The cuteness of listening to two 3 year old little girls play is almost too much. They are so precious. Harper sure missed her Bubba today. She asked me time and again how much longer until Bubba would be home from school. I guess the 2 of them had some serious sibling bonding over the last 2 weeks. I don't know what we'll do when our Huddy goes to Kindergarten in August. I don't know if we can handle it.
In other kiddo news, Hudson has a very LOOSE tooth. I can't believe it. To make him seem even older, you can actually SEE the 2 permanent teeth coming in behind his bottom 2 baby teeth. When did my little boy become a man??? :) I did order the cutest tooth pillow for him to put his tooth in. What is the going rate these days for the tooth fairy??
| She looks so old to me with that piece of gum in her mouth. |
| Our neighborhood is now in a rotation for the ice cream truck. The KIDS love it, and listen for it!! |

Wow & WOW...I am exhausted just listening to all y'all (he) did. Holton's room is just precious! I am anxiously await your post that he's here!!!
ReplyDeleteYou will love your washer & dryer so much. I seriously still love ours, 2 years later! Laundry might even be fun...well, maybe that's saying too much!
I can totally relate. I am not even pregnant or hormonal (some might disagree with that one...ha)& when Josh wasn't here yesterday, and now Kathryn today I could have burst into tears too. I LOVE when my family is all home!
Everything looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteWow!! Y'all were so productive. I am way impressed. Glad Matt had so much time off with you guys. I bet you are missing him tons!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Holton to get here!
What a cute room for Holton! Yeah! And the icecream truck is just in time for his delivery! It can be your treat, and afterall, if you are going to nurse, the more calories the better, right!? ;) Haha! So excited for yall!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and AWESOME new washer and dryer! We got ours right before JK was born, too, and I LOVE THEM!!
I think of you everyday, several times a day, wondering if today is the day Holton will arrive!!! Such an exciting time! Love all of the nesting. Holton's room is precious! I absolutely love his name written down the wall in big bold letters. I may have to use that idea! Wishing you an easy delivery and a healthy baby boy! Keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteHarper does look so grown up with that gum in her mouth...but then again, Hudson looks like he's hit a real growth spurt in that last picture! No doubt about it, those 2 precious kiddos are growing up!! Can't wait to hear & see more of Holton once he arrives- you are definitely in my prayers!
