This and that and that and this....

We had our first smiles this past weekend.  All last week I knew we were moments away from a full out smile.  He was giving us those little 'Elvis' smiles where just one side of his mouth would go up.  We still have to work our booty off to get a smile, but oh is it worth it, and I nearly burst into tears each time because it's so-stinkin-cute!  If I could properly express how much we love this baby boy, I would try....our love just grows and grows.  We have more fun with each passing day.  He really watches us now and focuses in on our faces.  His chubbiness is so cute it hurts.  His legs look like we have 5 tight rubber bands stretched around each leg to make all of those rolls.  Oh and his neck--I kiss those cheeks and neck countless times a day.  He just screams 'kiss me mama' when I look at him.

We had our first 6 hour stretch of sleep on Sunday night!  It was glorious!  I slept hard too.  I did not wake until I heard him.  It was such a proud moment for me that I had to wake Matt to tell him.  (I'm sure he was like, 'really Allison--you're going to wake me up'??).

The kids and I are going to Tyler next week for Spring Break.  Yes---I am driving 5 hours by myself with all 3 kids.  Who knows how long it'll take us to get there.  Holton does love his car seat---but we'll soon learn if he loves his car seat for 5 whole hours.  This is our first time is 6 months to leave town.  I am ready for some new scenery.  It'll be great!

Holton will be 2 months old on Saturday.  (can you believe it??)  His 2 month apt is the following week when we get back from Tyler.  I am ready to take him to see what this kiddo is on his stats, and plus it's always so good to have a check-up.  Holton has an umbilical hernia that supposedly will heal itself in his first year.  We noticed it a few weeks ago and had it confirmed that it was indeed a hernia.  It causes him no pain at all (we totally were freaking out about it), but it's one crazy looking belly button.  He's got an outie belly button times 5.  I'll be glad once they check him out again.

In other news, I had an AMAZING night out with 3 of my girlfriends on Saturday.  Aimee, Kelly, Jennifer and I went to see WICKED down town at the Majestic Theater.  It was my first time to see it, and I really did love it.  This was probably the funnest night I have had since I was in Chicago.  We had dinner right across the street at Bohanans which is by far our favorite spot for a date night (with your man or your girlfriends).  It did not disappoint.  Matt held down the fort while I was gone (5-11:30).  Holton did great too.  He took a bottle while I was gone and was a perfect angel!  I did not worry one bit, and enjoyed myself to the fullest.  Getting out is good for your sanity.  HA!

We are pretty sure he has brown eyes.  We sometimes think maybe green has a chance, but they definitely aren't blue.  It really just depends on the light what color they are.
My pride and joy right there!  My heart could just burst I love them so!
I'll just be honest here---I don't get much done around here.  How could anyone when you have this little man to love on all day long??  The laundry sits longer and dishes go unloaded longer, but I'm in heaven.
Mommy's little helper.
This child is like silly putty.  You can just mold him in your arms.  I LOVE IT!--we all do!

  2. sweet sweet sweet!! My Riley girl had an umbilical hernia when she was an infant too. It seriously looked like a doorknob and freaked me out. HA! It's closed now, but she still has a significant outie... now only times 5 rather than times 100. :) We took her to the pediatric surgeon to take a peek at it when she was about 1 and she said they don't do anything until they are 5, but that then it would only be one stitch to make it 'normal' looking. Easy. She also assured us (as did our pediatricians) that it may look bad, but causes no pain or problems.

  4. How sweet...holding a sleeping baby is just the best ever! So glad he is doing well and adjusting to his new little life outside of the womb! :) Hope that 5 hour car ride treats you well. My first time to go from Abilene, to Austin, with all 3 of mine took 8 hours. Yeah. That's double the 4 hours it normally takes. Ooopsie. :) But we made it!! Haha! Have fun!
